The Alexandria Cotton Exporters’ Association (Alcotexa) said on Sunday it had committed to sell 462 tonnes of cotton in the week that ended on May 30.
The sales comprised 175 tonnes of Giza 88 and 287 tonnes of Giza 86, an official from Alcotexa told Reuters.
The new commitment brings Alcotexa’s export commitments for the 2008/2009 season, which began in September, to 18,066 tonnes of cotton worth $47.13 million, the official said.
