Indonesian garment exports have dropped around 0.8 percent due to the impact of the financial crisis in the US, the executive director of Textile Indonesia, Retmo, said here on Saturday. "Our textile production is down around five percent as a result of a drop in exports," Retmo said. She said however that in the first quarter this year the domestic market was up around 25 percent. A parliamentary panel has recommended scrapping of deals the previous BNP-led coalition government struck to privatise three state-run cotton mills at throwaway prices. The parliamentary standing committee on jute and textile ministry at a meeting on Tuesday also suggested the ministry go for a re-tender to privatise those mills. Chairman Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury said his committee made the recommendation as the 2001-2006 government had privatised the mills at 'very low prices'. At 0348 GMT naphtha-based propylene margins were negative by $29.50/mt, based on a naphtha cost of $542/mt CFR Japan, propylene value of $762.50/mt FOB South Korea and a conversion cost of $250/mt.
